SUCH A FABULOUS COLUMN BY BRAUN!

Now I want to see a Grand Jury investigation into the COSTS involved in
bringing this to court: O'Toole's time, the investigator's time, flying in
witnesses (by Virgin Air?), various clerical/administrative costs. Also,
paralegals don't run che ap, though maybe Dumanis can now enlist them from tryouts at the
Comedy Club - sort of interns ... in their field, or Bonnie's. The whole
sorry ball of wax - what did this cost the taxpayers?

And while we're at it, even if Castaneda was "thinking" of buying, isn't
"thinking" protected by the First Amendment? If you can get an abortion as a
"right of privacy" can't you also mull over real estate prices as "a right of
privacy"? (Hell, Bill Horn's real estate deal that houses his Chief of Staff
Joan Wonsley in regal splendor in Carlsbad has certainly been granted "extended
privacy" by the County!)

Hasn't anyone come up with the premise that rents often relate to the current
value of real estate (as well as supply and demand)? If I were told the
market value of a rental is $1 million and the rent is $1,000/month I would
think "Such a deal!"

If I learned (by asking) that the market value was $90,000 then I'd think
$1,00 0 rent was too high.

Supposing Castaneda had asked "Does it have a fireplace?" (or dishwasher,
disposal, central air, toilets, garage space, etc.) would this mean Castaneda
was trying to finagle getting a fireplace installed? (or dishwasher, toilets,
etc.) Noooo ... he just wanted to know what he's getting for his $$$.

It's all normal info gathering that a future renter should collect.

Why isn't anybody in court asking about Castaneda's political relationship to
Mayor Cheryl Cox, whose husband is County Board of Supervisors Greg Cox - the
Board that funds Dumanis and O'Toole's office?

Are The Lincoln Club or the Republican Central Committee shown as "friends of
the court" in this VERY political travesty? If not, why not?
